The following is the report template for your BBC project:

Project title: Inside The World Of Football

The idea: My BBC article is about the ups and downs of football but mainly racism in football. I picked racism in football because I feel like it is an ongoing thing in football and I felt like it needs to be stopped so I'm really doing to make people aware of it and people who don't watch the sport also aware of the ongoing issue

The research you undertook: the research I had done was that I searched up some articles about the racism in football and how it is sometimes overshadowed. I used this for the main idea for my piece because I wanted to make people more aware about the consequence of football and racism.

Research for your article:
https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/european/inter-milan-fans-romelu-lukaku-racist-abuse-monkey-chants-ultras-letter-statement-a9091161.html
I'm using this article from the 'Independent' because if gives me part of the information needed to produce my football article about racism. this one shows that a team in the Italian league by the name of Inter Milam had written a letter to one of the main players that had said "Monkey chants are not a racist but a form of respect". I wanted to use this as it gave the example of the different reactions towards black players in football.

I had used this piece of research because it explains they way racism is punished in the world of football.. for example if a player or fan or group of fans are racist towards a player of a different colour or culture then they might get banned or fined for their actions and the team may get penalised.

This article I took more inspiration in because it was sort of the main focus of my BBC article. The focus was on the player Moise Kean who is a black football player who had played for Juventus and he had been given verbal racist abuse from the opposition fans and this had been all over the news and an issue that had seemed to be getting out of control.

Target Audience: Sport/Football Fanatics. My target audience are sport/football fanatics mainly because I think they’d find the BBC Story more interesting to them. But more interesting to the football fanatics for people who are in to sports other than football may enjoy it because it would show the behind the scenes and would open their eyes in what football is and why it is like this today.

Inside the world of football

What are the ups and downs of the football community?

Football is a sport for all types of people. Is this true though?

The passion for the game. To some people that may not like football it is just another sport but to the people that watch it means so much more than that.

Football for them is something to just escape all the bad things in life.

However, football isn’t always great because it does have the downsides: injuries, players leaving clubs but things much worse for example career ending injuries, racism towards players and fans and the controversy the footballs face like Cristiano Ronaldo facing his rape allegations. Football isn’t as it always seems. It’s under the spotlight.

Racism in football is something that occurs in football every single year, some months there are no incidents. Racism is one of the things that is ruining football.

In matches players who are of a different ethnicity have suffered racist taunts from fans shouting verbal abuse because of the colour of their skin.

v-this will be a video of me asking people what they think about football and I’ll ask them about the racist things they have either witnessed or endured

Some say it is the beautiful game. I would like to agree with this but its hard to agree with it when something so ugly is ruining the game.

Moise Kean who played for Juventus in April of 2019 was getting racially abused for the whole 90 minutes of the game. He had been one of the only black players on the pitch and every time he had control of the ball the Cagliari fans had booed his every touch.

Racist incidents such as this is the main reason for why the football community is in uproar! It’s disgusting how clubs still do like Cagliari are still tolerating this.

Football in Italy has had so many problems with racial slurs. For example just recently an Italian football pundit had said ‘the only way to stop Lukaku is to give him bananas’ since then the pundit has been sacked and won’t be allowed on ever again due to his racist comment. Romelu Lukaku says ‘we’re going backwards in the fight against racism’.

However, there are high points as well for example when Liverpool played Barcelona in the champions league semi-final, they played a game of two legs where Barcelona had won the first game 3-0 but Liverpool went through to the final with a dramatic 4-0 win. The reason this makes football great is because even though they had lost the first game the team, and fans came together to support each other to become one group of fans and comeback from the loss.

Even in World War I on Christmas day the English and German soldiers had put down their guns and played a game of football this shows the effect that football has as it had brought two countries fighting against each other to playing football with each other

Final copy:

Video idea: My video idea is going to be an interview where I am interviewing people who are interested in football. I would’ve liked to interview people who didn’t have much of an interest but I wasn’t fully prepared to have question for them and about their small explanation with the footballing world..

Video production: I had used mid shots for interviews that I had conducted to 3 people who had an interest football. The reason I used the mid shouts was because the long shots wouldn’t have been right for the scene as it would’ve been too far and wouldn’t have been easy to see the faces that well

Testing of BBC story in situ: I had shown my BBC article to some people who had interest about football and they had said that they had learnt some things about football and the behind the scenes of it that they did not know. I had also shown them the video and they said that they did learn things about the racial discrimination Involved in football but they had said it would be beneficial to add something like a little video of some of it happening in football to fully show people what happens instead of touching on the subject

Evaluation: I had been told by my peers that it was a good article that I had produced however I was also told that I should make the articles on the side more personal and related to football for example I could have put a sports article as a place where you'd be able to click on to be given more information.
